The beginning of the 2009 season was one to forget. Your killian Cougars struggled throughout the first 9 games of the season in '09. A new year, a new team, and a new season has seemed to do the trick for the 2010 Cougars. Currently tied with rival Palmetto for the 6A-District-16 lead, your Cougars look for this week's key district matchups against Southridge and Palmetto to gain some ground on the other teams in the district and pad their lead going into the depths of the month of March and into spring break. Senior Julian Santos and Theo Castillo have been leading the offensive attack for your cougars so far in 2010. Santos, a University of Miami signee leads the team in at-bats, hits, stolen bases and runs scored, while Castillo is the team leader in home runs and RBI's. The Cougar pitching has also stepped it up in the ealier part of 2010. Gabriel Llanes leads the team with a 3-0 record while Andrew Grifol is leading the way with a team low 1.75 ERA. Please come out and support as your Cougars will be taking on the Palmetto Panthers in March 5, 2010 at Coral Reef Park. The Game will begin at 3:30pm. Go Cougars!
